Burj Dubai trip to top no more than $10 -poll
Burj developer Emaar Properties last month announced the tower will have the highest public observation deck in the world, accompanied by an interactive tour charting the evolution of Dubai and the Burj Dubai.
Emaar said the observation deck, branded At the Top, will be located on the 124th floor and feature unobstructed 360 degree views of Dubai, but has not reveal how much the public will have to pay for the privilege.
Thirty-seven percent of respondents to the poll said 30 dirhams sounds reasonable, while 35 percent said it will have to be very cheap, around 3 dirhams.
It is just a view after all,they said.
A further 22 percent said they will not give Emaar a single dirham to go up to the observation deck.
Just 6 percent said they will pay whatever the price is, stating that to go up a real icon is a story everyone will be interested in.
The 160-storey Burj Dubai currently towers more than 800 meters above the city. The journey up to the 124th floor will take around 60 seconds, Emaar said.
Emaar has yet to reveal the final height of the tower, but it is believed to be around 808 meters high, or half a mile.
Emaar plans for the Burj Dubai to eventually be the tallest structure in the world in all four of the criteria listed by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH).
The council measures height to the structural top, the highest occupied floor, to the top of the roof, and to the tip of the spire, pinnacle, antenna, mast or flag pole.
The Burj Dubai will not be officially recognized as the world?s tallest structure until it is completed.
Emaar has also yet to announce exactly when the tower will open; only stating it will be sometime this year.
The Burj Dubai is expected to open in December, with UAE National Day on Dec. 2 rumored to be tentative date.
